Q: Will I meet my dog walker?
A: Yes. We offer a free face-to-face consultation which gives us the opportunity to meet you and your dog and to find out more about your dog’s personality and needs. If at any time your designated dog walker should change, you will have the opportunity to meet them beforehand.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: We charge a basic rate of £10 for a one-hour walk but give a discount for regular daily walks.
Q: How many dogs are walked at any one time?
A: We are fully insured to walk 8 dogs at any one time however groups will usually be made up of between four to six dogs. Should you prefer your dog to be walked separately then one-to-one walks are also available.
Q: How do you arrange collecting and returning the dogs?
A: We will collect your dog from your house at a designated time set by you, and then return them after their walk. Pick up and drop off services for walks are free of charge.
Q: What areas do you cover?
A: We currently cover most of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas including: Baffins, Bedhampton, Copnor, Cosham, Cowplain, Crookhorn, Denmead, Drayton, Eastney, Farlington, Fratton, Hilsea, Leigh Park, Milton, North End, Portchester, Purbrook, Southsea, Stamshaw, Waterlooville and Widley. Q: Are you insured?
A: Yes. For your peace of mind, The Dog Walker Portsmouth is fully insured by a specialist pet business insurance company, covering care, custody and control of an animal in our care, public liability insurance up to £2,000,000 and key cover.
Q: During what hours do you offer walks?
A: We provide walks from early mornings through to afternoons, 7 days a week. We can also walk in the evenings and on bank holidays though an additional charge may be made for these. Please contact us for further details.
Q: Where do you walk the dogs?
A: Dogs are only ever taken on ‘safe walks’ in enclosed spaces or spaces away from roads so that if you permit, your dog can be let off the lead to run, play and explore. Typical walks include Portsdown Hill, Forest of Bere and Eastney Beach.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: If you have to cancel or add a walk last minute, please try to give us at least 24 hours notice. We do try to be as flexible and accommodating as possible and no charges are made for cancellations made before 9am on the day before the scheduled service.
Q: What do you do in case of an emergency?
A: In the unlikely event of an emergency, we will immediately call and notify you. If veterinary assistance is required, we will take your dog to your nominated vet or to the nearest possible one depending on the circumstances.
